Pick of the Pinks!! Our Top 5 Rosé

The weather has been heating up and the consumption of Rosé has increased at an alarming rate. As we are drinking so much of it we thought we should let you know what has made it into our top 5 pick of the pinks!!

Opi Malbec Rosé 2016 Mendoza from Laithwaites at £8.99 pb

rosé
I have to admit I often gravitate towards Provence Rosé and there are a couple in this list however this made a welcome change it was absolutely delicious. It had the strawberry freshness that you would expect from any Rosé but added to that was more complexity it was quite aromatic and creamy with a hint of peppery spice. Would totally recommend if you fancy a Rosé with a bit of punch.

Louison Rosé 2016 Coteaux D’Aix En Provence from Majestic at £9.99 pb

rosé
A beautiful example of a Provence Rosé, strawberry, peachy, light, floral and bone dry. I loved the labelling and style of the bottle…it screams French Riviera.

Chapel Down 2015 English Rosé from Waitrose at £11.99 pb

rosé
This is a great summer BBQ wine! Dry & refreshing with strawberry and redcurrents at the centre with a lovely crisp acidity which lifts the wine to another level. This is a great example of the amazing wine that is being produced in England today…of course we are not at all bias because it’s English!

Petticoat White Zinfandel 2014 California from Laithwaites at £6.99 pb

rosé
An easy drinking White Zinfandel bursting with ripe red fruit and watermelon. A tiny hint of sweetness but still fresh and mouth-wateringly good!! At this price I would say this is excellent value for money. Enjoy very chilled on a hot summers day…

Coteaux D’aix En Provence 2015 from Tesco at £6.65 pb

rosé
Another Provence Rosé made it into the cut this time from Tesco and what a gem it was I have actually been to two BBQ’s after I had tasted it at home where it was served with pride!! It’s very delicate, floral with red berries and hints of citrus fruits. It went down a storm with everyone round the table and at that price I will definitely be heading back for more.

When it comes to food matching with Rosé white fish & seafood are obvs a clear hit, however cured meats that are not too strong in flavour, spring vegetable dishes, light risottos or pasta dishes would also work well. Of course BBQ but stick to prawns, fish, chicken if you can so that the delicate fruit flavours can still shine through.

So there you have it our ‘Pick of the Pinks’…another Rosé you must try is Miravel its something else!! Read all about it here
