Wine Review Round Up!!

Its’s wine review time again! Here is a run down of our fav’s over the past couple of weeks…Enjoy!

AM Adega de Monção Vinho Verde 2016 – Portugal from Laithwaites @ £9.49

Wine Review

Light, Fresh & Zesty is what comes to mind when you think about Vinho Verde and that was exactly what you get with this one! Delicate peach with an almost pear drop like aroma, it was fresh, crisp and citrusy on the palate…just simply delicious! A perfect wine to sip with your feet up on a sunny day in the garden. We had this on its own but it would go well with most lighter style chicken or fish dishes.

Burlesque Zinfandel 2015 – California from Kwoff @ £7.99

This old vine Zinfandel is quite special for the price, deep dark cherry fruit, smooth and just a hint of spice on the finish. I actually didn’t expect it to be so good I will definitely be heading back for more. I think something a bit meaty to go with this would work a treat, a nice piece of beef maybe, however we had it with cheese and it worked very well indeed.

Bischöfliche Dom Riesling – Germany from Kwoff @ £11.99

Wine Review

Ahhh the Riesling’s of the Mosel what a treat…they are one of my favourite wines and this is a great example. Floral, Fruity, Juicy and highly aromatic this wine had it all going on, lots of peach then citrus on the palate it was just devine! As you can see we enjoyed it with sushi and the Riesling complemented it perfectly.

Groote Kaap Viognier 2016 – South Africa from Laithwaites @ £7.99

Wine Review

Viognier, its up there with my fav’s. It was rich, full bodied, ripe & tropical..everything you expect from a warmer climate Viognier. It would stand up to most foods it’s especially nice with curries and BBQ chicken.

High Altitude Malbec – Syrah 2015 – Argentina from BOB Wines Sydenham @ £11.85

Wine Review

What a great partnership this is! Combining sweet, ripe plum fruit from the Malbec and the spicy black fruit flavours coming from the Shriaz, it had great body and smooth soft tannins. Would pair well with steak obvs but roast lamb or bbq meats would be a great match.

Sorry no link to BOB Wines as they don’t sell online yet!!
